Mr. Kweku Andoh Awotwi
Mr. Kweku Andoh Awotwi, was appointed the Chief Executive of the Volta River Authority (VRA) in June 8, 2009.
He was first appointed CEO of the Volta River Authority from October 2003 to February 2004 as head of an Interim Management Committee (IMC), which was constituted when the VRA was facing financial and industrial crises.
Recognizing the satisfactory role he played in the IMC, and his strategic management acumen, President Evans Atta Mills, has re-appointed Mr. Awotwi as CEO of the VRA with primary responsibility to ensure financial soundness and provision of reliable and sustainable electricity to meet the energy requirements of the nation.
Prior to his appointment, Mr. Awotwi held various portfolios. He was the CEO of Midway Resources International, a company in the Oil and Energy industry, and Founder/Director of Cenpower Generation.
He also served as Managing Director responsible for Strategic Planning and New Business at the Ashanti Goldfields Limited from 1998-2004.
Mr. Awotwi also served as Manager, Business Planning & Analysis at Kaiser Aluminum & Chemical Corporation from 1990-1998 and a Design Engineer at Advanced Technology Center from 1984-1985.
Mr. Awotwi holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc.) degree in Electrical Engineering, Economics & Political Science from Yale University, USA, and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in General Management and International Business, from Stanford University Graduate School of Business, USA.
